Challenge
The customer required that if one LED failed, the remaining LEDs should continue operating normally.
Engineering Consideration
One possible approach would be implementing individual protection for every LED.
However, based on NKT's LED application experience:
- Individual LED protection would significantly increase circuit complexity
- Additional components would increase cost
- The practical benefit would be limited under the actual operating conditions
NKT Solution
Instead of protecting every individual LED, NKT designed separated LED group circuits.
This approach provided:
- Practical reliability
- Reasonable circuit complexity
- Better manufacturability
